Here's the before...

Slapdash Racing's rally car of choice is a 1988 BMW 325is, which is popular among enthusiasts. It is the 'E30' body type and is officially antique. The rally car has an M20 6-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed transmission with a 4.10 limited slip final drive. It is a two-door coupe and it's original colors are Schwartz Black for the exterior and Cardinal Red for inside. It was a clean setup and I almost felt bad for tearing it apart.

This is the 'after' picture, full-on rally car.

Here's the after...

Believe it or not, says Ripley, this car is mechanically close to stock. Bill Doyle, of Cage This (cagethis.com), designed and built the roll cage, skid plate and light bar. We added racing seats and a steering wheel, but the engine, transmission and suspension are largely stock. We run Bilstein HD shocks, but the springs are original to the car! So are the brakes!

Scarcely will you ever hear such a vicious sound as the mighty, 168-hp (factory), BMW M20 Straight 6, at an unknown RPM, after a winter packed with 78 consecutive blizzards, after a year-and-a-half of no rally activity whatsoever. Fear us Petter Solberg! For we are coming for you!!!

Behold the raucus burble!
